Dear Connectors,

We are hard at work upgrading our customers to Mercell Bidding, and if you’ve recently been upgraded from a previous product, welcome onboard! In this article we’ll be taking a closer look at monitoring profiles and how you can make the most out of them.

Monitoring profiles in Mercell Bidding allow you to find tenders and opportunities that are most relevant to you and your business. You can have unlimited monitoring profiles active simultaneously, letting you cast a wide net when looking for opportunities. For the basics of setting up a profile, please head to this article in the Mercell Knowledge Base.

When setting up your monitoring profile, it’s always a good idea to combine CPV codes and keywords into a single search. To ensure full coverage, we also recommend including as many synonyms as possible into your monitoring profile. That way you avoid missing opportunities. All tenders must include at least one CPV code, but in situations where a CPV code is missing, well-chosen keywords can help compensate and ensure that the tender is still captured by the monitoring profile.

Depending on your situation, there are benefits to having either multiple or single search profiles. If your company operates in multiple areas, it’s a good idea to divide your search for opportunities into multiple profiles.

For example, if your company works in both plumbing and carpentry, it’s a good idea to use separate profiles. This way you can more easily see which tasks, documents and more are involved for each business area. If searches are conducted across multiple countries, it’s also advantageous to use multiple search profiles in order to know which countries are relevant when receiving match emails.

If you’re a smaller business operating in a single country, or with just a single owner of the search profile, using just a single search profile will likely suffice. You can always edit your monitoring profile based on your needs. As your business grows and changes over time, new search profiles can always be created if something more specific is needed.

For instance, we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic that many companies wanted to monitor available tenders that related to COVID-19 and their products/services. In these cases it made sense for these companies to create new searches, which could then be edited or potentially deleted as the circumstances of the pandemic changed.

Taking advantage of every feature of a Monitoring Profile is key to making the most out of them to increase your potential opportunities. We are currently working on an AI driven Profile Builder that can either help you refine your current monitoring profiles or build new ones from scratch. Don’t forget that you can also edit existing profiles in order to further refine them by adding or removing keywords and CPV codes.

If you need help with setting up your Monitoring Profiles, you can always ask the Mercell Community!
